Home Retail Australia Post Tests Drones: Plans to Commercialise Within a Year Australia Post launches a trial program for delivery drones.
Last week Australia Post announced it would pilot a new program to test parcel delivery by drone.
It will be the first project of its kind ever attempted in Australia by a major shipping company.
The two-week trial is happening with the full co-operation of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). With proprietary technology developed by Ari Labs, a Melbourne startup who have developed and delivered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for Yamaha, RMIT, and the Australian Department of Defence.
The news comes as major players in the ecommerce space like Amazon and Wal-Mart have already undertaken this kind of activity, and it is the second time in a month that Australia Post has made significant plans in meeting the disruptive challenges facing the space.
